PVC CONTENT IN A PVC/ABS BLEND BY IRTF
The principle consists in measuring the band height of the C-Cl bond of the PVC which is a function of the quantity of PVC deposited on the spectrometer. A calibration is carried out with known PVC/ABS mixtures (pure PVC, pure ABS, Blend of known content, etc.) during which an IRTF spectrum of a known quantity of standard is produced and the height of the stretch band is measured C-Cl (615 cm-1) and plot H (abs) = a. %PVC. Secondly, a deposit of a known mass of the sample with an unknown PVC content is made. The height of its band at 615 cm-1 directly gives the PVC content.
