Identification and determination of surfactants by UPLC/TOF-MS

At present, the analytical proposals available for the detection, qualification and quantification of surfactants require the use of several analytical techniques (Pyrolysis / GCMS; IRTF; ICPMS ...) which must be coupled or else combined. function of the nature (ionic or nonionic) or of the molar mass (simple molecule or oligomeric molecule) of these compounds.
The analytical technique by LC/TOF-MS (liquid chromatography coupled to a time-of-flight mass spectrometry detector) acquired by the Polymex laboratory alone makes it possible to analyze all types of surfactants, ionic or not, simple molecules or oligomeric.
This technique, which scans a mass range up to 3000 m/z, makes it possible to determine the composition, but also the distribution of the chain lengths of your most complex mixtures.
